Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Friday named Musi Banyuasin Regent Pahri Azhari and his wife Lucianty corruption suspects.

The couple were charged with bribing district officials in the process of the debate over the revision of the district budget for 2015.

The KPK investigators had found sufficient evidence to charge the couple with corruption by giving gifts to two other civiol servants to keep mum about the regents accountability report, an acting deputy chairman of KPK Johan Budi said on Friday.

Pahri Azhari is a politician of the National Mandate Party (PAN) and his wife Lucianty is district legislator also from PAN.

The two is facing a maximum jail term of five years if found guilty with a fine of up to Rp250 million each.

KPK already name four other suspects in the case including district legislators Bambang Karyanto from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle and Adam Munandar from Gerindra, also allegedly involved in bribing the two civil servants Syamsuddin Fei and Faisyar , who were named suspects for allegedly receiving the bribe money.

Joham said KPK would soon summon Pahri and Lucianty as suspects for further investigations .

KPK already arrested a number of other regional officials together with their wives on charged of graft.(*)
