Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The latest entrants into the economic team of President Joko Widodos working cabinet have made it stronger and are coordinating well with other economic bodies, the presidential Chief of Staff Luhut Panjaitan said.

"With Mr. Darmin, Mr. Rizal Ramli and Mr. Thomas Lembong joining the cabinet, the economic team has become stronger. They all have very good experience in their respective fields. As such, the coordination between the economic team, the BI (Bank Indonesia) governor and the OJK (Financial Service Authority) will be better," Panjaitan said after being inducted as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs on Friday.

President Joko Widodo had reshuffled his working cabinet on August 12 by appointing six new individuals, including Rizal Ramli replacing Indroyono Susilo as the Coordinating Maritime Affairs minister.

The other five were Sofyan Djalil, Luhut Pandjaitan, Darmin Nasution, Pramono Anung, and Thomas Lembong.

Djalil, who was formerly Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs replaced Andrinof Chaniago as the National Development Planning Minister and Head of the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas).

Luhut Pandjaitan, a retired general and presidential chief of staff replaced Tedjo Edhy Purdijanto as the Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs minister, while Darmin Nasution, former Bank Indonesia Governor, took over the position of Sofyan Djalil as the Coordinating Economic Minister.

Pramono Anung, a senior politician of the ruling-Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), replaced Andi Widjajanto as the cabinet secretary, and Thomas Lembong, a former official of the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (BPPN), assumed the position of Rachmat Gobel as the Trade Minister.

Panjaitan further said the President had ordered to scrap regulations that were hindering the national economy.

The reshuffle had received a positive response from the market, he added.(*)
