After the meeting, Kammi will review the nation`s condition."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Some representatives from the Indonesian Muslim Students Action Union (Kammi) met Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla on Tuesday to discuss the latest developments in Indonesias economic condition.

"Today, we discussed with the vice president about the latest situation concerning the economic slowdown being faced by the country during the first and second quarters and the weakening of the rupiah against the US dollar," Kammi General Chairman Andriyana stated.

During the meeting with the vice president, he also urged the government to give directives to the public to face the global economic crisis.

He noted that the government should work towards reducing public anxiety amid the current global economic crisis.

Andriyana also emphasized the need to increase state revenues from taxes and the absorption of the development budget in the region as the drivers of the economy.

"There should be a legal breakthrough, so that the policy cannot be criminalized, and increased budget absorption can help to drive the economy," remarked the Kammi chairman.

He noted that the students will stage a demonstration next week after consolidating with several parties, one of them being the Cipayung Group.

"Next week, on September 4, we will hold a consolidation meeting in Bandung with students from across the country. After the meeting, Kammi will review the nations condition," he stated.

Speaking in connection with the recent cabinet reshuffle carried out by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Andriyana noted that the students will monitor the performance of the ministers.

"We will monitor to see whether the new ministers are able to deal with the current economic condition," he affirmed.
