Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The decision to dismiss or replace National Police Investigation Board (Bareskrim) Chief Commissioner General Budi Waseso had yet to be taken, according to Police Chief General Badrodin Haiti.

Conversing with a journalist here on Thursday, Haiti stated that the polices Rank and Promotion Council for High-ranking Officers (Wanjakti) was still holding discussions on the replacement of high-ranking commissioned officers, however, he claimed to have no knowledge about whether Wasesos dismissal was a certainty.

Haiti denied claims that his meeting with Coordinating Minister for Political, Security and Legal Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan on Wednesday night, September 2, was held to discuss the Bareskrim chiefs dismissal.

"It was not about that but other matters. There were several meetings related to the National Police Commission and visits to PLN (state-owned electricity company)," he remarked.

Haiti also desisted from commenting on Wasesos actions that had led to unrest.

"Let the people decide who the real culprit is behind creating unrest. We had conducted several searches across various locations such as in the PTTI office, but we faced no problems," he affirmed.

Haiti emphasized that the National Police Headquarters must proceed with its investigations on corruption cases involving various agencies and state-owned companies.

He explained that the replacement of high-ranking commissioned officers was considered normal.

Waseso also assessed that the replacement is normal. However, if he was replaced, he believes that his successor would be better.(*)
