Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla seeking to encourage acceleration in the execution of government projects, said there would be no charges against mistake in policy.

"I know many projects have left to lie idle for fear among the executing officials to make mistake in policy," Kalla said when giving directive at a working meeting of the Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Ministry here on Friday.

The government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is facing problem of economic slowdown partly because of shortfall in the implementation of government spending.

Until August only around 25 percent of the government development fund was spent on delay in project implementation.

Jokowi has expressed concern with the poor performance in the implementation of the state budget in the first half of 2015.

In the first six months of the year, the countrys economy grew only 4.7 percent slowing from more than 5 percent in the same period last year.

The president has warned law enforcing agency not to criminalize mistake in policy.

Kalla especially lauded the PUPR Ministry for its fairly good performance in project implementation. .

The ministry succeeded in carrying out 33 percent of its infrastructure projects as against the national average of only 25 percent, he said.

"There are always dynamism in development. In the past people thought it was enough to have road, now people give greater stress on quality and convenience," he said.

Therefore, the PUPR Ministry in carrying out its function should meet three conditions- good planning, good implementation and control, he said.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said his ministry was given a budget fund of Rp118 trillion in 2015 and so far 32.3 percent of the budget had been spent.(*)
