Baghdad (ANTARA News) - Islamic State (IS) militants have kidnapped 127 children in IS-held Iraqi city of Mosul recently to train them in the ranks of the terror group, Iraqi News reported on Tuesday.

IS has kidnapped 127 children aged 11-15 over the past few days, Iraqi News quoted Saeed Mamouzini, an official from Kurdistan Democratic Party, as saying.

The children were sent to special camps for training on the use of weapons and implementation of terrorist operations, the official added.

Iraqi News also said the father of one of the children killed two of the kidnappers in an attempt to prevent them from taking his child.

Terror group IS has occupied large swaths of territories in Iraq and Syria. Mosul, the second largest city in Iraq, has been under IS control since June 2014.
