Pontianak, West Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Head of the regional income service of West Kalimantan Samuel said around 40 percent of motor vehicle owners in the province have not paid tax on their vehicles in 2015.

"Based on our calculation there are 30 to 40 percent of the motor vehicle owners have yet to pay tax this year," Samuel said here on Tuesday.

He said West Kalimantans target for tax revenue from motor vehicles is set at Rp500 billion this year, adding so far only Rp275 billion in motor vehicle tax had been collected.

The tax authorities in cooperation with police and military, therefore, had to intensify raids on owners of motor vehicles in the streets until the end of the year, he said.

The raid caused inconvenience to hundreds of motor vehicle drivers , but it was found that most of them have not paid their tax.

They were the asked to pay on the spot other wise their vehicles would be detained.(*)
