New York (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla has welcomed the speech given by United States President Barack Obama at the United Nations General Assembly, affirming that the United States has now become realistic about world peace.

"Obamas speech is good. The United States is now more realistic to work together with countries around the world to maintain world peace," Kalla stated at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Monday.

The Indonesian vice president explained that although the United States has the experience, weapons, and large amount of funds, it cannot achieve peace alone.

"The main point of Obamas speech is that the United States wants a peaceful world," Kalla noted.

In his speech to the United Nations General Assembly, Obama remarked that the United States could not singlehandedly solve the worlds problems.

"No matter how powerful our military, how strong our economy, we understand that the United States cannot solve the worlds problems alone," Obama stated.

He noted that in Iraq, the United States had learnt a hard lesson that even hundreds of thousands of brave, effective troops and trillions of dollars from its Treasury could not impose stability on a foreign land.

"Unless we work with other nations under the mantle of international norms and principles and the law that offers legitimacy to our efforts, we will not succeed," Obama emphasized.

"Together, we must strengthen our collective capacity to establish security where order has broken down and to support those who seek a just and lasting peace," he remarked.

Obama affirmed that the United States is prepared to work with any nation, including Russia and Iran, to resolve the conflict.(*)
