Entikong (ANTARA News) - The people of the border city of Entikong in West Kalimantan demanded realization of dry port, a project long pledged by Jakarta.

The project was first pledged by National Board for Border Development headed by Home Affairs Minister Gamawam Fauzi under the previous government, Entikong community leader Suyono said here on Friday.

Land for the dry port project has been available in the frontier city bordering on Malaysia, and a plaque has been put in place by Fauzi, Suyono said.

The ground breaking has even been inaugurated by the then Regent of Sangau Setiman H Sudin to mark the start of construction, he said, adding, but until now there is no signs that the project is about to be built.

The pledge to build the dry port was repeated again during the visit here by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

The local people have provided 130 hectares of land , and a community member even offered two hectares of his land free for the project, Suyono said.

He said the people were pleased to here the government promising to develop the frontier areas, but he feared that the government is not serious with its promise.
