Jeddah (ANTARA News) - The death toll of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims in the Mina stampede incident rose to 91 from 59 reported earlier following the identification of 32 more bodies, an official stated here on Thursday.

"We earlier released information about the death toll reaching 59, which comprised 55 Hajj pilgrims and four Indonesians who had resettled in Saudi Arabia. The death toll has now increased to 91," Chief of the Indonesian Hajj Pilgrimage Organizing Committee for Mecca region Arsyad Hidayat noted.

The 32 newly identified bodies comprised 31 Hajj pilgrims and an Indonesian who had resettled in Saudi Arabia, he revealed.

The significant rise in the death toll of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims came to light after the Saudi government provided greater access to the bodies of the Hajj pilgrims killed in the incident, he affirmed.

The 32 bodies were identified as Abdul Wahab Samangka, Arbai Abdullah Saleh, Syamsyudiin Abdurrahman Idris, Muhammad Thamrin Slamet, Enung Maesaroh Wahyo, Eli Sumili Syafii, Neneng Rukmini Didin Binwari, Aruk Emen Urha, Sarjo Mulyana Sukarta, Wahyudin Doyowikatma, Kartinah Oto Kartawijaya, Juhata kuswandijai, Wawan Sofwan Efendi, Iim Haimah Rustama, and Ima Rismawati Endang Nanda.

The others were Iik Bahri Suparma, Nani Marlina Muhammad, Rakal Suryawangsadinata, Suimah Kasan Usman, Hadi Mufti Wibisono Suratin, Rita Saadah Saudin, Hafsoh Maktub Ilyas, Mat Safii Samijo, Rukmiyati Sanusi Matahir, Samiah Sarnuji Muhayat, Zaenab Darmo Sagimin, Ida Husnul Khotimah, Tutik Indriyani Tukiyo, Hasbullah Hasanuddin Paida, Abubakar Karjo Tani, Namma Muhammad Kasim, and Ecang Suryadin Rosyid.

With the identification of 32 bodies, about 40 Indonesians are still missing in the tragedy.

This year, the Indonesian government had sent as many as 168.8 thousand Hajj pilgrims to the Muslim holy lands of Mecca and Madinah.

In the meantime, Al Jazeera reported recently that at least 717 people have been killed in a stampede at the annual Hajj pilgrimage, Saudi Arabias civil defence directorate affirmed, as the death toll continues to rise.

The directorate stated that at least 863 other pilgrims were injured in Thursdays stampede, which took place in Mina on the outskirts of the holy city of Mecca.

The injured have been evacuated to four different hospitals in the Mina region, according to a civil defence spokesman.
