"We have checked all reports from people who claimed to have seen the aircraft down but the result is still zero," Bambang Soelistyo said.
Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - The Chief of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Rear Marshal FH Bambang Soelistyo, said here on Sunday that his agency had already checked all reports from the people but no lead about the missing Aviastar aircraft was found.

"We have checked all reports from people who claimed to have seen the aircraft down but the result is still zero," he said at Hasanuddin air base in Maros, South Sulawesi.

He said in case of incidents like plane crash there are always indeed citizens claiming to have seen the incident and it is common.

All reports are useful and would always be checked even if they are trivial to widen areas of investigation, he said.

He said he could understand with regard to the emergence of many reports about the missing plane like in Sidrap, Enrekang and Luwu.

"I understand it and it has often happened. We have also checked a report from a child who claimed to have seen the plane in smoke falling in Lake Bone but the result is still zero," he said.

A Twin Otter plane belonging to Aviastar airline with flight number MV 7503 lost contact at 14.36pm while flying from Masamba to Makassar in South Sulawesi on Friday.

The plane carried ten people including seven passengers. It was piloted by Captain Afriadi with Yudhistira as co-pilot and Sukris as technician.(*)
