Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and Malaysia will soon hold a meeting of the Joint Commission Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) in Kuala Lumpur to discuss border issues, among others, according to the Indonesian Foreign Ministry.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi is scheduled to leave for Kuala Lumpur on Friday to meet her Malaysian counterpart during the meeting, Arrmanatha Nasir, the ministrys spokesman, stated here on Thursday.

The settlement of border issues is on top of the Indonesian governments priority list since the country adopted a road map for accelerating the negotiation process, he noted.

He affirmed that both countries have held three technical meetings to settle border issues, and the meetings have made progress.

The JCBC meeting will also discuss cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, and education and the handling of Indonesian migrant workers employed in Malaysia.

The two neighboring countries have agreed to set a US$30 billion bilateral trade target for this year.

"The value of bilateral trade from January to July 2015 reached US$12 billion, less than half of the target. In 2014, Indonesia-Malaysia trade was valued at US$20 billion," he remarked.

He pointed out that governments of the two countries will also continue to encourage people-to-people relations as part of the efforts to boost tourism cooperation.

"Regarding the question of Indonesian migrant workers employed in Malaysia, we have been allowed to expand CLC (community learning center) in Malaysia, which provides access to education to the children of Indonesian migrant workers," he noted.

The meeting will also review several agreements and memoranda of understanding that the two countries have implemented, he added.(*)
