Bontang, E Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has encouraged the establishment of a holding company for state-owned enterprises (SOEs) operating in similar sectors to intensify cooperation.

"The establishment of a holding company for similar (SOEs) is aimed at ensuring better efficiency in corporate activities," Jokowi stated during the launch of the factory 5 of PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur and a phosphoric acid factory II of PT Petro Kimia Gresik in Bontang, East Kalimantan, on Thursday.

The president expressed hope that all SOEs would replicate the integration efforts undertaken by their counterparts in the fertilizer sector.

He said that state-owned banks have their own ATM machines.

"The ATM cards might be different, but the transaction services should be offered through common ATM machines as it is the Indonesian people who are the owners of state-owned companies," the president affirmed.

President Jokowi also emphasized that such efforts could result in savings of up to Rp30 trillion along with ensuring greater efficiency in operations.(*)
