Jakarta, Jan 12 (Antara) - Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman has said the government will boost exports of ten commodities in 2016 to 2019.

"The Vice President has explained ways to use the budget effectively and efficiently and we have to focus on certain strategic commodities," Sulaiman said here on Tuesday.

The export commodities on which the government will focus are textile and derivative products, electronics, rubber and rubber products, palm and forest products. In addition, footwear, automotive, shrimp, cocoa and coffee will also receive similar attention.

He explained that as of now, the agricultural commodities being exported by Indonesia, among others, are green beans and corn.

Data from the Ministry of Agriculture records that the corn exports reached 400 thousand tons per year, and were mainly headed for the Philippines.

In addition, Indonesia also exports mango and pineapple as well as organic rice to Italy, amounting to 134 thousand tons per year.

Indonesia also has ten potential export commodities such as leather and leather products, medical equipment, herbal medicines, processed foods and essential oils.

Other potential products are fish and fishery products, handicrafts, jewelry, spices and stationary.
