The British businessmen are ready to invest in Papua and West Papua ..."
Jayapura (ANTARA News) - The British government is supporting the efforts of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to accelerate development in Papua, according to British Ambassador to Indonesia Moazzam Malik.

"The British government supports President Jokowis efforts to speed up development in Papua for the welfare of the local community," Malik remarked here on Thursday.

Malik acknowledged that human rights issues and political problems continued to exist in Papua, but the British government viewed it as part of Indonesian territory.

The British ambassador noted that Britain remains committed and recognizes Papua as an integral part of the territory of Indonesia.

According to Malik, Britain has been cooperating with Indonesia for the past decade in environment-related areas, and now, some British investors have invested in Papua and West Papua.

"The British businessmen are ready to invest in Papua and West Papua, so that they can create more jobs to improve the welfare of the local people," he emphasized.
