Malang, East Java (ANTARA News) - Four people were confirmed dead following an Air Force plane crash in Malang, East Java, on Wednesday.
The number of casualties was confirmed after co-pilot of the Super Tocano aircraft Syaiful Arief Rakhman was confirmed dead.
The body of the co-pilot is still stuck in the cockpit. In order to extricate it, it is necessary to first pull out the wreckage of the aircraft buried under the ground," Air Force chief of staff Marshak Agus Supriatna said at a press conference.
He said he had coordinated with the owner of the house that was hit in the crash to demolish it to make room for the operation to be executed.
"The heavy equipment has been arranged and the owner of the house, Mujianto, has agreed for the demolition of the house," he said.
With the discovery of the body of the co-pilot, the number of the victims who died in the incident has been confirmed as four, including the pilot, Major Ivy Safatilah, and two civilians, Irma Wahyuningsih and Nur Cholis, who were buried in the wreckage.
The body of pilot, Major Ivy Safatillah, was discovered around eight kilometers away from the crash site in a paddy field.
"We would take care of the burial of all the victims while the body of the pilot has been flown to Yogyakarta where it is to be buried," he said.
Super Toscani TT-3108 crashed at around 10.12am in Jalan LA Sucipto in Malang city, East Java.(*)
