Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has ordered that every entrance must be closed to drug smugglers.

"Close any entrance to drug smuggling, both at seaports and airports as well as small ports in our country," President Jokowi stated while chairing a limited cabinet meeting on drug eradication and rehabilitation program for victims of drug abuse, here, Wednesday.

He called on every party to declare war against drug abuse and trafficking.

Tougher law enforcement measures must be implemented against drug trafficking networks, he remarked.

"Because illicit drugs have penetrated everywhere," he stressed.

The head of state ordered to intensify creative campaigns against illicit drugs as it was crucial.

Prisons must also be supervised stringently, he emphasized.

He specifically instructed the National Anti-Narcotic Agency (BNN) with the support of the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) to conduct impromptu raids at least one or twice a month in prisons to find illicit drugs.

The meeting was attended by Social Affairs Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Education and Culture Minister Anies Baswedan, Chief of the National Police General Badrodin Haiti, Chief of TNI General Gatot Nurmantyo, BNN Head Budi Waseso, Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.
