Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The National Polices Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) has searched the office of the Jakarta Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD) Chairman Prasetyo Edi Marsudi as part of efforts to probe an alleged graft case related to the procurement of Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS).

"It is true that we are in the process of searching the working room of the DPRD Chairman related to the case of UPS," the agencys Director of Corruption Crime, Brigadier General Ahmad Wiyagus said here on Thursday.

Asked if the search indicated the involvement of the DPRD Chairman in the case, he denied it.

He said during the search the police had tried to find documents related to the procurement of UPS. "We only looked for documents related to the procurement of UPS," he said.

The police have named five suspects in the case. Two of the suspects are members of the DPRD, while the rest are the boss of PT Offistarindo, a partner company, and two officials from the Jakarta provincial administration.

Only one suspect has stood trial in the anti-corruption court. The Bareskrim investigators are still trying to gather evidence pointing to the involvement of the other four suspects in the case.(*)
