Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived here, Sunday morning, for the fifth Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

President Abbas arrived at the same time with a delegation of Morocco, Commander of the OIC Summits Information Task Force Col Czi Berlin G said.

Other leaders who have already arrived in Jakarta included Gambian President Yahya Jammeh, Omani State Council Premier Yahya bin Mahfouz Mundhiri, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, and Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

The President of Sudan, Jordans Prince, the President of Yemen, and the President of Pakistan are expected to arrive later on the same day.

Indonesia is hosting the Extraordinary Summit of OIC on Palestine and Al Quds in Jakarta Convention Center on March 6 and 7.

The Summit is expected to produce two documents, namely Resolution on Palestine and Al Quds, and Jakarta Declaration.

The two documents would be discussed during the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) on March 6, and then adopted by the leaders on March 7, Hassan Kleib, Director General for Multilateral Cooperation of the Foreign Ministry, said.

The resolution will be adopted to reaffirm the Islamic states stance on supporting Palestinian independence and the status of Jerusalem, while the declaration would express the OICs commitment to follow up on the results of the meeting.(*)
