Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) hosted a state banquet in honor of participants of the fifth Extraordinary Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit at the Jakarta Convention Center on Sunday.

"This Summit reflects our support for the settlement of Palestinian issue which will bring about independence to Palestine," he said while opening the state banquet.

The president said Indonesia has a population of 252 million, the vast majority of whom are Muslims.

Jokowi said Indonesia is a pluralistic and democratic state which enjoys stable political condition.

"It is the pride of the Indonesian nation to host the Extraordinary OIC Summit which discusses the Palestinian issue," he said.

He believed that if OIC member states are united, the dispute between Palestine and Israel can be resolved.

The spirit of peace must be promoted for peace and democratization purposes by refraining from violence, he said.
