Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will chair the general debate session after opening the Fifth Extraordinary Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit meeting's second day at the Jakarta Convention Center Plenary Hall, Monday, stated Presidential Communication Team member Ari Dwipayana.

"On the second day of the summit, President Widodo will lead the opening ceremony on Monday morning and the closing ceremony in the evening. The president will also receive courtesy calls and hold bilateral meetings," Dwipayana noted in a written statement.

He said the courtesy calls to Jokowi will be made by the Libyan prime minister, the Iranian foreign minister, the chairman of the Council of the State of Oman, the Saudi Arabian foreign minister, and the Qatar deputy prime minister, among others.

Dwipayana noted that the Indonesian head of state will hold bilateral meetings with the presidents of Pakistan and Sudan and will thereafter in the evening chair the continuation of the general debate sesion and then close the 5th Extraordinary OIC Summit meeting.

The 5th Extraordinary OIC Summit on March 6-7 is a form of concrete efforts made by the OIC members, including Indonesia, to push for the settlement of the Palestinian conflict.

Jokowi said that during his meeting with Palestine's President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday evening, Abbas highly lauded Indonesia's support in hosting the OIC summit.

Abbas briefed Jokowi about the current condition in his country during a bilateral meeting here on Sunday.

"He spoke about the border issue, illegal settlements, and also Palestinian refugees living outside Palestine," Jokowi said, adding that he had also discussed the security situation in several zones controlled by Israel in the meeting.

"I just now also conveyed Indonesia's commitment to continue offering full support to the Palestinian independence," he affirmed.

Jokowi emphasized that Indonesia would also give complete support to undertake breakthroughs in the framework of international peace.

"Indonesia hopes the results of the summit in Jakarta would be used as a concrete input for the mechanism of future conferences," he added.
