Jakarta - (ANTARA News) - Indonesia has called for Palestinian unity, which is necessary to find the right solution to the Palestinian and Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) problems.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi made the statement while reporting the results of the ministerial conference on Palestine and Al-Quds of the 5th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Extraordinary Summit here on Monday.

"It is very important for the people of Palestine to unite to find the right solution to the Palestinian problem, and Indonesia is ready to give support to the Palestinian reconciliation," she affirmed.

The minister said no single country would be able to tackle the Palestinian and Jerusalem problems, and therefore, she highlighted the importance of the OIC member countries in finding the right solution to the problems.

Marsudi said political support for Palestine must also be followed up by concrete actions and steps, which will later be incorporated in the Jakarta Declaration at the end of the summit.

The Jakarta Declaration will be one of the documents to be produced as part of the summit.

During a meeting earlier held with Minister Retno, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki had lauded Indonesia for its support to Palestine.

Minister al-Maliki agreed with the Indonesian foreign minister that support for Palestine must be more than political and should also include concrete actions.

He also hailed the holding of the summit that demonstrates the strong commitment of OIC members in responding to the Palestine and Jerusalem issues.
