Sukadana (ANTARA News) - A team of the Indonesian Navy Headquarters visited Sukadana area in Kayong Utara district, West Kalimantan province, on Friday (March 11) to inspect preparations for Sail Karimatata Strait 2016 in the district.

"We have come here to preview the venue for the event. We want to check what preparations have to be made ahead of the event, including those regarding the location and depth of waters," spokesman for the Indonesian Navy Headquarters Colonel I Ketut Suaria said here.

Among the locations the team inspected were Teluk Cik Kadir port and the coast of Datok Island which will most likely serve as the venue for the Sail Karimata Strait 2016s peak event.

"Although we are still waiting for a presidential decree to that effect, we must make preparations from now on," he said.

During the inspection, the team will also gather inputs on the possibility of building more Navy command posts and increasing the number of personnel, he said.

"During the peak of the event, many personnel will come here as several ships which will carry crew members will participate in the event," he said.

Meanwhile, deputy Kayong Utara district head Idrus, accompanied by head of the public works office Brian Sofian and head of the cultural, tourism, youth and sports office Mas Yuliandi said the local government has prepared the location for the event.
