Princess Astrid was accompanied by five Belgian ministers and some 205 representatives from 127 Belgian companies.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla received the visit of Princess Astrid of Belgium, who led a business delegation to discuss opportunities to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.

Vice President Kalla, accompanied by Minister of Industry Saleh Husin, Deputy Foreign Minister A.M. Fachir, Head of the Coordination Board (BKPM) Franky Sibarani, and Chief Economic Adviser to Vice President Jusuf Wanandi, welcomed the Belgian delegation at the Vice Presidential Palace, Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta, Monday.

Deputy Foreign Minister Fachir had earlier stated that the visit was mainly intended to discuss some important sectors for economic development in Indonesia such as technology and renewable energy, infrastructure and maritime engineering, management of smart cities, and agriculture, among others.

Princess Astrid was accompanied by five Belgian ministers and some 205 representatives from 127 Belgian companies.

During the visit, Princess Astrid will witness the signing of eleven cooperation contracts and more than 25 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between Belgian and Indonesian companies.

After a closed-door meeting, the vice president will also entertain Princess Astrid and the Belgian business delegation in Building II of the Vice Presidential Palace.

During her visit to Indonesia on March 12-19, 2016, Princess Astrid is also scheduled to plant trees in the Bogor Botanical Gardens and visit Bandung to discuss the development of smart cities with Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil.(*)
