"The government and the people of Indonesia have extended sympathy to the government and people of Myanmar over the April 13 earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale," the ministry said in a press statement released on Friday.
The earthquake was centered around 396 kilometers north of the Myanmar capital of Naypyidaw.
The Foreign Ministry said it was yet to receive a report from the Myanmar authorities about any Indonesian citizens falling victim to the earthquake.
However, the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon said it will monitor developments by coordinating with relevant parties in the wake of the earthquake.
The embassy said 609 Indonesian citizens currently stay and work in Myanmar. However, most of them stay far from the quake affected areas.
The embassy asked the Indonesians staying in Myanmar to keep abreast of the developments related to the natural disaster, based on information from the local government.
