Banda Aceh (ANTARA News) - Almost 16 tons of illegal sugar and 2.3 tons of sticky rice, seized by personnel of the Indonesian Customs and Excise Office in Banda Aceh, capital of Aceh, during 2014-2015 operations, were destroyed here, Tuesday.

The other confiscated goods, destroyed by burying them in an underground garbage container, also included 73 sacks of rice, 31 boxes of used clothing, 126 thousand cigarettes, 12 packs of spare parts, a box of cosmetics, and two adult game devices, Head of Aceh Provinces Customs and Excise Office Rusman Hadi stated.

"We also destroyed 10.5 tons of smuggled onions packed in 1.1 thousand sacks," he noted, adding that all the goods were seized from the Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport, Ulee Lheue Seaport, and post offices in Aceh.

Hadi said his personnel continued to maintain sound communication and coordination with the police, military, and other related institutions to combat smuggling activities.
