Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Yang Jiechi here, Monday, to discuss efforts to intensify bilateral economic relations.

The Chinese official emphasized that his government was keen to increase bilateral economic cooperation with Indonesia.

During the visit to Indonesia, Jiechi is leading a delegation comprising economic ministers and other high-ranking officials.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution had earlier briefed them on the potential areas of economic cooperation between China and Indonesia.

Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Xie Feng, Deputy Foreign Minister Liu Zenmin, Deputy Agriculture Minister Yu Kangzhen, Deputy Trade Minister Gao Yan, and Deputy Chairman of the Chinese Reform and National Development Commission Wang Xiaotao were among those present at the meeting with President Jokowi.

The Indonesian head of state was accompanied by Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, and Minister/State Secretary Pratikno.

In an earlier meeting with Nasution, the Chinese delegation shed light on a plan to open a China desk at the office of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board and the usage of Chinese currency, Renmimbi.

Indonesia will set up an Indonesian Investment Promotion Center in China.
