"I only wish to tell them not to be too noisy. Let us settle the case properly," he said when asked about the issue at the presidential office here on Monday.
He said he has received a report from the Foundation for 1965-1966 Murder Victims Investigation (YPKPK 65) regarding the mass graves found in several regions in Indonesia, all of these connected to the 1965 tragedy.
He said the government also assured the security of YPKPK 65 members and no one will be allowed to intimidate them.
He said his office would verify and investigate the places in Java and Sumatra where the mass graves have been reported.
"We are going to verify a report about a mass grave in Pati (Central Java). We are sending a technical team," he said.
Besides Pati, YPKPK 65 has also reported mass graves in Wonosobo, Central Java.
The government plans to check several locations where mass graves of the victims of the 1965 tragedy have been reported, one after another.
YPKPK 65 has submitted a report to Luhut about 122 mass graves, containing remains of 13,999 victims of the 1965 tragedy in Java and Sumatra.
The Indonesian government wishes to settle cases of gross human rights violations, including the one related to the 1965 tragedy.
"There is a will on the part of the government to finally resolve the cases of human rights violations. We think that a resolution of the 1965 case would pave the way to settle other cases," he said while recently opening a national symposium on the 1965 tragedy in which an abortive coup attempt was made by, as many believe, the then communist party.
He said President Joko Widodo has also expressed a wish to resolve all human rights violation cases.(*)
