Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and the Embassy in Wellington, New Zealand, have again promoted "Wonderful Indonesia" in Auckland to attract tourists from the country.

According to a press release from the Embassy in Wellington made available to ANTARA here on Tuesday, the promotion was held in Auckland, the second-largest city in New Zealand, from May 6 to 8, 2016.

The "Wonderful Indonesia" promotional event was organized through an interactive dialog with the local travel agents and reporters who specifically cover the tourism industry and promotional activities.

On the occasion, Embassy Chief for the field Asia-Pacific Tourism Marketing Strategies Budihardjanti shed light on the development of tourism in Indonesia.

Numerous travel agents present at the interactive dialog showed interest in Budihardjantis presentation and expressed their intention to market travel packages to Indonesia.

Furthermore, Indonesian Ambassador to New Zealand Jose Tavares encouraged the travel agents in Auckland to offer a greater variety of travel packages to Indonesia.

"Tourism in Indonesia is not only about Bali. Indonesia has 10 leading tourist destinations that are ready to be offered to travelers from New Zealand," Tavares remarked.

High interest of New Zealanders was also observed at the promotional event of Wonderful Indonesia as it was visited by nearly 2.5 thousand people who intend to travel to popular tourist destinations in Indonesia such as Bali, Lombok, Komodo Island, Yogyakarta, Raja Ampat, and Toraja.

The promotion of Wonderful Indonesia in New Zealand was also supported by the national airline company Air New Zealand by offering an Auckland-Bali round-trip ticket to Valerie Saunders, the winner of a free flight to Bali.

"Many New Zealanders travel abroad, and through this promotional event, they will learn more about other tourist destinations in Indonesia besides Bali," the ambassador added.(*)
