Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The State-owned Enterprise Ministry (BUMN) pledges support for the development of 10 main tourist destinations in Indonesia, including Lake Toba in North Sumatra.

The support for development of Lake Toba as a tourist destination is reflected with BUMN anniversary celebrations centered in the country's largest lake.

The celebrations used the theme BUMN Anniversary: Lake Toba Expedition, BUMN Present for the Country, held at the Inna Hotel, Parapat, North Sumatra.

BUMN Minister Rini Soemarno said the support by the BUMN ministry for tourism development is given in the forms provision of clean toilets, clean water and other such facilities in a number of locations around the Lake Toba.

"The assistance is provided by a number of BUMNs celebrating their anniversary in May, 2016," she said.

The companies include Barata Indonesia, Perum Bulog, Perusahaan Daerah Industri Pulau Batam, PT PGN Tbk, PT Sang Hyang Seri and PT Varuna Tirta Prakasya.

"The synergy is a strategic attempt by BUMN as an agent of development to expand the hotel chains in Indonesia aimed at developing tourism and economic potentials," she said.

The support given by BUMNs is in line with the order by President Joko Widodo to accelerate growth of the tourism sector.

The country hopes to post 12 arrivals of foreign tourists with earning from the tourism sector expected at Rp172 trillion .
