Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Tourism Minister Arief Yahya lauded Indonesian Ambassador to Thailand Ahmad Rusdi, who had intensively promoted his countrys tourism in the "Land of White Elephants."

"Thank you, Mister Ambassador and greetings for Wonderful Indonesia. I believe Indonesias tourism will leave a strong mark in the minds of the people of Thailand," Yahya remarked in a statement here on Tuesday.

The minister stated that the Indonesian ambassador to Thailand was actively promoting his countrys tourism during the Wonderful Indonesia Festival, which took place at the Platinum Fashion Mall in Bangkok last week.

Yahya noted that during the festival, organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, Rusdi informed the visitors of the several tourist destinations and also spoke of the visa-free policy, which has been offered to citizens of some 169 countries.

Ambassador Rusdi expressed belief that several foreign tourists will visit Indonesia later this year.

"The visa-free policy program is part of the governments commitment, and I believe that through this intensive promotion, foreign tourist visits to Indonesia will continue to increase," the ambassador added.
