"We hope the relations between Indonesia and Iran, especially in the macro and micro development (of energy), as well as bio-energy, proceed well," the Minister of Rural Development and Transmigration, Marwan Jafar, stated here on Monday.
Marwan made the observation after meeting with the Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia, Valioallah Muhammad.
According to Marwan, Indonesia is now developing alternative sources of energy by utilizing micro-hydro, geothermal and bio-energy.
Indonesia has a village energy program to provide electricity access to rural communities in Indonesia as a whole.
In addition, ambassador Valioallah Muhammad noted that Indonesia and Iran have a lot of opportunity to cooperate when it comes to village energy affairs.
The Iranian envoy explained that Iran has implemented geothermal energy program in a bid to meet the electricity needs of up to 25 megawatts.(*)
