Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Three terror suspects caught by the police anti-terror Densus 88 squad in Surabaya, East Java, on Wednesday revealed that they planned to conduct a bombing during Ramadan, police said here on Thursday.

"They planned to carry out their action during the holy month, especially in Surabaya," National Police Spokesman Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar said.

He said the police knew about this following their investigation of the three suspects.

The group also plans to conduct a bombing at public places and police stations. "They wish to conduct an action similar to the bombings in Thamrin (Jakarta)," Boy said, adding that the terrorists had gathered the equipment for conducting a suicide bombing.

On Wednesday (June 8), Densus 88 was assisted by the East Java police for the arrest of three terror suspects known by their initials of PHP, JR and FN.

PHP was arrested in Kenjeran. He is a narcotic drug ex-convict who had been jailed in Porong and released in April 2014. While in the prison in Porong, East Java, he was often seen being together with Maulan Yusuf Wibisono and Shibgotuloh.

"PHP was often seen together with Maulana Yusuf and Shibotuloh," he said.

Shibotuloh is a former convict in a terrorism case of the CIMB Niaga Bank robbery in Medan, North Sumatra, while Maulan Yusuf Wibisono alias Kholis is a former member of the Jamaah Islamiyah network led by Abu Dujana.

The second suspect JR was arrested in Jalan Kalianak, Surabaya. He is known as a person wanted by the resort police of Malang, East Java for his involvement in a mob attack and domestic violence cases.

FN, meanwhile, was arrested at his home in Dukuh Setro, Tambaksari, Surabaya. From him the police confiscated three active highly explosive bombs, two rifles and one hand gun with ammunition, explosive materials, chemical fluid, wires, a knife, and a hand phone to be used as a trigger.

"The evidence is now being kept at the Mobile Brigade headquarters in Surabaya," he said.(*)
