Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Metro Police on Thursday destroyed 42 kilograms (kg) of liquid methamphetamine, 4.8kg of crystal meth and 109,700 ecstasy pills, which were confiscated during several operations conducted between March and May this year.

"This exposition is one of the efforts being made to battle drug abuse," the Deputy Chief of Jakarta Metro Jaya Police Brigadier General Nandang Jumantara said here on Thursday.

An Iranian national, BLS, and an Indonesian, TSG, have been arrested on suspicion for possessing the 42kg liquid meth.

The Chief of Narcotics Division of the Metro Jaya Police Senior Commissioner John Truman Panjaitan revealed that the two suspects were transporting the liquid meth using an expedition company on East Bekasi Road, Pulogadung, East Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the 4.8kg of crystal meth was secured from suspect RR on Maleo Road, Bintaro Jaya Sector 9, in South Tangerang.

The suspect had transported the illicit goods via sea channels.

He would conceal the narcotics inside generator sets, and PVC tubes to deceive the officers at several ports in Indonesia, Pandjaitan said.
