Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A series of events will be carried out, welcoming the arrival of Vice President Jusuf Kalla to a few districts around Lake Toba, North Sumatra, from July 29 - 30.

It was announced in a meeting regarding the Vice Presidents agenda in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KHLK) in Jakarta, Monday, attended by a number of officials including Environment and Forestry Ministry Siti Nurbaya, Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, North Sumatra Governor Tengku Erry Nuradi and member Commission I of the House of Representatives Effendi Simbolon.

"There are a number of events prepared for the Vice Presidents visit, including the planting of 7,000 trees, customary deliberation and the preservation of the environment," said Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK) Siti Nurbaya in the meeting.

The series of events is prepared for the Vice Presidents visit, in line with the local governors plans to prompt the growth of tourism and infrastructure development around the vicinity of Lake Toba.

The plan received a positive feedback from North Sumatra Governor Tengku Erry Nuradi. He hopes that the Vice Presidents agenda will provide more than an opportunity to endorse their cultural wealth.

"There need to be a serious discussion regarding infrastructure expansion and the efforts to elevate the peoples competitiveness, by introducing the unique cultures of each areas to attract tourists," said Tengku.

Seven local governors from each coastal districts around Lake Toba declared their ability to support the success of the Vice Presidents visit to the volcanic lake area.

We will be sure to have everything prepared," said North Tapanuli governor Nikson Nababan.

The seven districts bordering the lake are Samosir, Toba Samosir, Humbang Hasundutan, North Tapanuli, Simalungun, Dairi and Karo.

While the areas that are on the list for Vice President Kallas visit are Parapat regency in Simalungun district and Huta Ginjang in North Tapanuli district. (*)
