I want this cooperation to be realized as quickly as possible ..."
Denpasar (ANTARA News) - The Bali provincial government is looking into the possibility of establishing cooperation with Tsing Hua University, the best institute of higher learning in China.

"I want this cooperation to be realized as quickly as possible and it must proceed in a sustainable manner," Governor o Bali I Made Mangku Pastika said at a meeting with the universitys rector, Cheng Xu, at the Denpasar Cultural Gallery here on Saturday.

He expressed the hope that as a result of such cooperation, Balinese students would be able to pursue higher education at the university. Moreover, the university, a partner of Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US, is known for its globally-recognized strength in the field of information technology.

Besides exchange of students, he also expressed the hope that the cooperation would expand and will include sending staff members of universities in Bali to China to attend training courses.

Pastika informed that the Bali provincial government currently has a sister province arrangement with the Chinese provinces of Hainan and Yunan and is seeking to establish such cooperation with other Chinese provinces.

Meanwhile, Cheng Xu expressed his gratitude to the Bali governor for the warm welcome he received during his visit to Bali.

He underlined his seriousness to establish intensive cooperation with Indonesia, particularly with Bali, in the education field. Both sides could start the cooperation by exchanging students to study each others culture.

Looking ahead, the cooperation could be expanded to make Bali a hub for the universitys research programs, he added.
