"The embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate General in Jeddah call on all Indonesian nationals in Saudi Arabia to stay calm and increase vigil," according to an embassys press statement received here on Tuesday.
In addition, Indonesian nationals in Saudi Arabia are urged to continue monitoring the security situation through various government sources and avoid visiting sensitive areas in the country.
On Monday, suicide bombers struck three cities in Saudi Arabia, killing at least four security officers, in an apparently coordinated campaign of attacks as Saudis prepared to break their fast on the penultimate day of the holy month of Ramadan.
According to Reuters, the explosions targeting US diplomats, Shiite worshipers, and a security headquarters at a mosque in the holy city of Medina followed days of mass killings claimed by the Islamic State group in Turkey, Bangladesh, and Iraq.
The attacks all seem to have been timed to coincide with the approaching Eid al-Fitr, the holiday that celebrates the end of the Islamic holy month.
A suicide bomber detonated a bomb at a parking lot outside the Prophets Mosque in Medina, the second-holiest site in Islam, said a Saudi security spokesman.
"Security men noticed a suspicious individual among those approaching the Prophets Mosque in an open area used as parking lots for visitors cars. As they confronted him, he blew himself up with an explosive belt, which resulted in his death and the martyrdom of four of the security personnel," the spokesman revealed.
In Qatif, an eastern city that is home to several members of the Shiite minority, at least one and possibly two explosions struck near a Shiite mosque.
Without providing any further details, the security spokesman remarked that the body of a bomber and two other individuals had been identified.
Some hours earlier, a suicide bomber was killed, and two people were wounded in a blast near the US Consulate in the kingdoms second-largest city, Jeddah.
The blast in Jeddah was the first bombing incident in years targeting foreigners in the kingdom. No group has immediately come forward to claim responsibility for the incident.
The authorities have identified the attacker as a 34-year-old Pakistani driver named Abdullah Qalzar Khan, who lived with his wife and family in the city.(*)
