Padang, West Sumatra (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo appealed to the people in the country to remain calm following a suicide bombing incident in Solo, Central Java, on Tuesday morning.
"I have called and security personnel have been able to take control of the situation and so we hope people would remain calm while being alert because tomorrow we will celebrate Eid al-Fitr," he said at a press conference at Hotel Grand Inna Muara.
President Jokowi as he is also called is in Padang, West Sumatra, for a working visit that includes joining the local community in the Eid prayers on Wednesday morning.
He said he has ordered national police chief General Badrodin Haiti to investigate the network of the suicide bomber thoroughly.
The President also asked the police ti chase and arrest members of the network, adding he would keep coordinating with the police with regard to finding the mastermind of the incident.
He said people need not be afraid of the terror. "Again we hope people would remain calm and continue their final day of fasting solemnly," he said.
President Jokowi said he would continue with his plan to visit Solo and Yogyakarta from July 6 to 9.(*)
