Padang, W Sumatra (ANTARA News) - The Padang Police have arrested 55-year-old Eka, a public university lecturer, and 28-year-old Andri, a police officer, on Tuesday at 1:30 a.m. local time for methamphetamine abuse.
"We arrested both suspects during a raid at the Hijau Daun housing complex, and they were allegedly using methamphetamine at the time," Chief of the Padang Polices Drugs Unit Daeng Rahman stated in Padang, Tuesday.
During the arrest, the authorities seized a packet of methamphetamine weighing 350 grams, or worth Rp350 million.
Apart from the two suspects, the police also took 29-year-old Taufik, 22-year-old Robert, 24 year-old Widya, and 36-year-old housewife Adma into custody.
The personnel also seized a digital scale, a set of meth inhalation tools, three lighters, a firearm, six bullets, and three cars.
The arrest was led by the search for Taufik, who had been the target as he was on the polices search list, Daeng revealed.
"When we received a tip-off on Taufiks whereabouts, along with five other people, who were going to have a meth feast, we immediately organized a raid," he revealed.
All six suspects are currently detained at the Padang Police headquarters for further investigation.
"We are investigating the suspects to determine their roles, whether they were users or dealers," Daeng concluded. (*)
