Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission received 66 reports of gratification from officials of the government and other state institutions in Jakarta and the regions during last Idul Fitri celebrations.

"The reports are received from deputy ministers, lawmakers, and lurah (heads of lowest government administration). The readiness to report gratifications is appreciable," KPK chairman Agus Rahardjo said here on Monday.

Agus said the gratifications are generally in the form of parcels containing household goods and foods, adding there were also other types like hand phones.

As for gratification in food, KPK took only note and they were handed over back to gratification recipients.

KPK has yet to decide what to do with the gratification goods, whether they would be taken as state assets or not.

The anti graft agency kept secret the name of the officials reporting the gratifications.

One of those reporting gratifications was chairman of the Commission III of the House of Representatives Bambang Soesatyo, who via his expert staff reported to KPK on Monday parcels containing crockery.

KPK has called on officials not to accept gratifications.

An Indonesian law requires government officials to report in 30 days to the law enforcement agencies any gratification received because of their positions in the government.

Gratifications could be in the forms of money, goods, price discount , commissions, loan without interest, travel tickets, accommodation facility, free medical treatment and the like.

Failure to comply with the regulation could face a 4 years to life imprisonment with a fine of Rp200 million to Rp1 billion.(*)
