Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - More than 3,000 children from all over Indonesia attended the National Childrens Day 2016 in the city of Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara Province, Saturday.

Among the more than 3,000 children attending the event were orphans, street children, and children who were undergoing the disciplinary process, Women Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Yohana Susana Yembise said in her speech to mark the commemoration of the National Childrens Day.

The main event of the National Childrens Day this year was held not only in Mataram but also in various regions across the country, she remarked.

This year, the event was for the first time implemented outside the State Palace, and Mataram was the first city to host the event, the minister revealed.

On the occasion, Yembise appreciated the government of Mataram city for being the host.

"Thanks to the city of Mataram, specifically Mayor H Ahyar Abduh, who provided the facilities and support for the success of the event," she said.(*)
