Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia National Police arrested two suspected drug traffickers for possession of 62kg of methamphetamine and for their suspected involvement in Nigerias international drugs syndicate circle.

"Two persons have been arrested. Both are suspected couriers as well as dealers. The drugs were hidden inside the air filters of heavy machineries," Director of Narcotic Crime Division of National Police Brigadier General Dharma Pongrekun said here Wednesday.

After two months of surveillance, the police in cooperation with the Customs officers, arrested the suspects, identified as ZL (44), a resident of Citayam, Depok, and MN (46), a resident of Bireun Aceh, when the two were going to take possession of packets of illicit goods at the main gate of Cibubur Toll Km 40 on July 20.

Two days before the arrest, the authority had received a report of the delivery of illicit goods at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

"The team tailed the transporters who brought the methamphetamine," Pongrekun said.

From the two suspects, police officers confiscated 33.5kg of meth hidden inside four air filters of heavy machineries.

After questioning the suspects, the authority managed to seize another package of 28.5kg meth concealed in similar air filters and cereal boxes in two wooden crates at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

"We discovered that these packages came from Cameroon, sent through Turkey before arriving in Cengkareng (Soekarno-Hatta Airport)," Pongrekun said.

The illicit packages were meant for a warehouse in Citayam, Depok, West Java, the police said.
