"The House of Representatives (DPR) congratulates the newly appointed ministers and expresses the hope that the replaced ministers would serve in other places," the house speaker said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - House Speaker Ade Komarudin lauded the policy of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to reshuffle his cabinet ministers as part of the efforts to make the cabinet more effective.

"The House of Representatives (DPR) congratulates the newly appointed ministers and expresses the hope that the replaced ministers would serve in other places," the house speaker said at the parliament building here on Wednesday.

Komardin stated that the house hailed the cabinet shakeup and hoped that the new lineup would perform to its best abilities.

He added that the announcement of the new cabinet would have a positive impact on the economy and strengthen the rupiah exchange rate.

"If the rupiah strengthens, the composite index (IHSG) in the stock exchange will also improve. So the market has certain expectations," he noted.

The house speaker pointed out that the alleged human rights violations committed by Wiranto, now appointed coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs, was an old issue and there is no need for any debate on it now.

According to Komarudin, what is important now is that all elements of the nation should be united to support the work of the cabinet. "I think that right now, we have to prepare ourselves to face the global economic challenges," he stressed.

The house also hoped that after the reshuffle, there will be political stability among political parties grouped in the Joko Widodo - Jusuf Kalla coalition.(*)
