The audit determines whether the management system applied at the airport met international standards."
Kuta (ANTARA News) - The Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, Bali, has received the ISO 9001:2008 quality management system standard certification from the United Register of Systems (URS) Services Indonesia for air services.

"We had started the process since 2013 and finally received the certification for offering domestic and international flight services that are in accordance with international standards," General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I at the Ngurah Rai International Airport Trikora Harjo stated here on Friday.

The certification was delivered by URS Indonesias representative, Franklin Samuel, to Human Capital and General Affairs Director of Angkasa Pura I Adi Nugroho.

Angkasa Pura is a state-owned company engaged in airport management across the nation.

The services for air travelers cover passenger reporting facilities, immigration, customs, security checks, baggage handling services, flight schedule information, cleanliness, availability of public facilities, and temperature control at terminal rooms, among others.

In order to be certified, the airport management should submit documents on all procedures regarding its services and have to be audited by internal auditors.

The internal audit report is then evaluated by URS Indonesia.

Meanwhile, a senior auditor at URS Indonesia Franklin Samuel remarked that the institution had begun the audit process in March 2016.

"The audit determines whether the management system applied at the airport met international standards," he noted.

To this end, URS Indonesia has evaluated the data and quality management systems for passenger services applied by the airport management.

"Following a detailed check of the operational aspects, we concluded that Ngurah Rai airport deserves to receive international recognition for its quality management system," Franklin emphasized.

The system is automatically acknowledged by Great Britain, as ISO is based in that country.

Besides Ngurah Rai, several airports in Indonesia that have been certified are Juanda in Surabaya, East Java; Achmad Yani in Semarang, Central Java; and Sultan Ani Muhammad Sulaiman in Sepinggan, East Kalimantan.

The Sam Ratulangi airport in Manado, North Sulawesi; Sultan Hasanuddin airport in Makassar, South Sulawesi; Syamsudin Noor airport in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan; and El Tari in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, are scheduled to be ISO 9001:2008 certified.
