"The suspect was found guilty of being in possession of 161kg of methamphetamine," presiding judge of the district court Emi Tri Rahayu said.
The court also punished Tommy with a fine of Rp5 billion or an additional jail term of six months.
In a court session earlier, the public prosecutors demanded a death sentence for the suspect.
Tommy was arrested by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in November, 2015.
Tommy said he would not appeal the verdict and the prosecutors said they needed time to consider the court decision.(*)
