London (ANTARA News) - Several Indonesian traditional dances were performed at the Festival Internacional Tratados de Teoloyucan in Teoloyucan City, Mexico, according to a press release from the Indonesian Embassy in Mexico City received by ANTARA News here, Wednesday.

The cultural festival being held on August 6 to 14 is featuring traditional cultures from several participating countries.

At the festival, Indonesia showcased dances from various tribes, such as Lenong Betawi and Nandak Ganjen from Betawi; Merak Sunda from Sundanese, West Java Province; Tor Tor Tandok from Batak, North Sumatra; and Cipat Cipit from Banyumas, Central Java.

Indonesia is participating in the festival for the first time and aims to introduce its traditional cultures to the Mexicans, especially to the people in Teoloyucan.

Teoloyucan Mayor Victor Hugo Rojas Guzman lauded the Indonesian performances. He was also thankful to the cultural team for enriching the knowledge of the locals about Indonesian traditional arts.

Maria Guadalupe Martinez Franco, the organizer, praised the Indonesian performances and the elegance of batik, a traditional textile with wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth, showcased at the booth.

This year, 35 countries, including Indonesia, Panama, Argentina, Bolivia, Ethiopia, Syria, Chile, Brazil, Cuba, Iraq, Panama, Turkey, Japan, the United States, Thailand, Russia, Peru, Guatemala, and Colombia, are participating in the festival.

Indonesias participation at the festival is expected to help introduce its culture and traditions to the people of Mexico and other countries.
