"I can say that 96 percent of the draft regulations have been completed," Jokowi said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the government has completed drafting 96 percent of regulations for the 12 economic policy packages it has issued since last year.

"I can say that 96 percent of the draft regulations have been completed," Jokowi said in a state of the nation address at a joint meeting here on Tuesday of the House of Representatives (DPR) snd the Regional Representative Council (DPD).

President Jokowi said many of the regulations were no longer effective and had been abolished or revised.

"Many of our regulations have been outdated and need revision to keep pace with the changing condition," Jokowi said.

Deregulation and simplification of the bureaucracy has been launched to accelerate services, give certainty to regulation and boost investment and improve productivity, he said.

A task force has been formed to to accelerate implementation of the policies, he said.

He indicated that more economic policy packages would be issued to boost the countrys economic development.

More than 3,000 regional regulations have been revoked as they did not contributed to facilitating investment and boost economic development.

He said the regulations revoked were only those concerned with trade and investment.

He said synchronization of the policies and regulation was to guarantee that the regulations are in line with he countrys 1945 Constitution.

"No regulations both central government regulations and regional regulation are above the Constitution," he said.(*)
