Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Taxation Directorate General will offer tax amnesty services on all days of the week in order to cater to the rising interest of taxpayers to be part of the tax amnesty program.

The directorate general noted in a press statement on Monday (August 15) that the new policy had come into effect since August 14, 2016, in all tax service offices across the country.

It said the new policy is also being implemented as the lowest redemption tariff for the repatriation of assets is only effective for less than two months, or until September 30, 2016.

Hence, the tax amnesty services will be provided on all days of the week. From Monday to Friday, the services will be offered from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. local time; on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time; and on Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. local time.

The directorate general noted that the additional time for the tax amnesty services has been made available to offer ample time for taxpayers to apply for the program.

In the meantime, Indonesias Financial Services Authority (OJK) has said 18 banks have signed contracts to become partner banks and act as gateways for funds repatriated under the tax amnesty program.

"Previously, only four banks had signed but yesterday in Semarang, the number increased to 18," OJK chairman Muliaman Hadad stated on Saturday last week.

He pointed out that it was not impossible for more banks to join as many have not yet registered as partner banks but have already expressed their interest to become one.

He informed that the OJK is still formulating the criteria for other banks to become partner banks to accommodate funds repatriated as a result of the tax amnesty program.

"Besides banks, many investment managers have also expressed their interest to join," he added.

In addition to 18 banks, a total of 18 investment managers and 19 investment brokers-dealers have also been declared as gateways for the tax amnesty funds.
