Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended the 28th ASEAN Summit in Vientiane, Laos, Tuesday, held to discuss the development of the ASEAN Community, in particular, and to present the ASEAN Vision 2025 and three master plans.

The summits were officially opened at the Vientiane National Convention Center at 1 p.m. (Indonesian time), the Presidential Secretariats Press, Media, and Information Bureau said in a statement here, Tuesday.

Jokowi is accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto; Foreign Affairs Minister Retno LP Marsudi; Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita; Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Thomas Trikasih Lembong; and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.

First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo attended the spouse program in Laos.

President Jokowi and the other ASEAN leaders are expected to sign a document on "The ASEAN Declaration on One ASEAN, One Response: ASEAN Responding to Disasters as One in the Region and Outside the Region."

Jokowi, accompanied by Minister Marsudi, is later scheduled to attend the ASEAN Leaders Interface with the representatives of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and the ASEAN Leaders Interface with the representatives of the ASEAN Youth.

On Tuesday afternoon, the head of state, accompanied by Marsudi, Enggartiasto, and Lembong, will attend the ASEAN Leaders Interface with the ASEAN Business Advisory Council.

In the evening, Jokowi and Iriana will attend a banquet to be hosted by Prime Minister of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and First Lady Naly Sisoulith.

On Wednesday, the ASEAN leaders, including Jokowi, will attend the 29th ASEAN Summit that will discuss ASEAN international relations and the associations orientation in the future, as well as regional and international issues.

President Jokowi flew to Vientiane directly from Hangzhou, China, where he attended the 11th G20 Summit Conference on Sept. 2-5.(*)
