Sidoarjo, E Java (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) boarded the Indonesian Ship (KRI) "Banjarmasin-592", sailing in East Java Province waters, to witness the Navy drill, "Armada Jaya 2016", and Navy weaponry.

Jokowi arrived at Juanda Airport in Sidoarjo, East Java Province, on Wednesday, at 08:50 local time.

The president took a Bell helicopter from Juanda to KRI Banjarmasin-592. It took 36 minutes to reach the waters.

After boarding the Banjarmasin-592, Jokowi was apprised by the Task Force Commander, First Admiral TSNB Hutabarat, on the firing of strategical weapons.

The Navy also showed the president the range of its weaponry.

The training involved at least four Parchim-class corvettes, launching the anti-submarine rocket RBU 6000.

The Navy helicopter also conducted a simulation of medical evacuation and logistic transfer as well as personnel deployment.

Some vessels shot anti-surface ship howitzers at the targeted "killer tomato" buoy.

After the series of simulations at the KRI Banjarmasin-592, Jokowi also visited the Marine Corps Training Center in Karang Tekok, Situbondo District, East Java Province.

Additionally, Jokowi also distributed food supplements at the fish auction center in Landangan Pesisir Village, Situbondo.

In order to monitor the local peoples nutritional habits, Jokowi also visited the nutritional recovery center in Jalan Sudirman in Situbondo District.

Jokowi will also observe Marine training in Banongan Beach in the district on Thursday (Sep 15).

The Marines will simulate the deployment of personnel for taking control of a command center.(*)
